2023 BULK COMPUTER BUY INFORMATION

  • There has been a delay on remaining computers due to health issues.
  • Rex has been coming in to help on a per diem basis.
  • Filling the CNS Manager position is very important, but filling the Business Manager position is taking precedence.

POLARIS TRAINING

LOST/DAMAGED ITEMS AT OTHER LIBRARIES

  • It is a good time to remind all of our libraries to follow proper check-in procedures. It is incredibly important for circulation staff to inspect items that are being checked in, especially if it is another library’s item. Pay attention to the blocking notes and check for pieces/parts/disks, water damage, rips/tears (especially pop-up books), etc. If you do discover an item has damage, we encourage you to add a note to the physical record (Physical Condition field and/or Free Text Block) and also put a little post-it or slip of paper in there so the owning library can be alerted to the damage. The owning library can determine whether or not they need to charge for an item.
  • Billing between libraries can get a little complicated. Within certain counties, libraries don’t invoice each other and just call it a wash (our patrons lose/damage your items and vice versa). You can run this report for libraries in other counties: Utilities > Reports & Notices > Custom > Public Services > Patron Financial > AA-Collected Fees Detail or AA-Collected Fees Summary. Note: run the report for ALL libraries to find the fees you’ve collected and what you’re owed.
  • This and the One Card, Many Libraries agreement also may be something that needs to be visited when the new CNS Manager gets settled in.

OVERDRIVE CONTRIBUTIONS

  • The platform fee is $9,500, which is covered by FLLS and we contribute about $25,000 for purchasing.
  • Reminder that letters are due on December 1, but we won’t invoice until 2024.

2024 FALCONS MEETINGS

  • The next meeting will be in February, we will keep that on Zoom due to unpredictable weather.
  • For the May meeting, we will try hybrid.

OPEN DISCUSSION

  • Martsje HOM had trouble contacting a couple libraries by phone. It is important to make sure your hours are correct on your website!
