One Card, Many Libraries Starts September 1
ITHACA—The Finger Lakes Library System has announced the September 1 launch of “One Card, Many Libraries,” a service which will allow library patrons from Cayuga, Cortland, Seneca, Tioga and Tompkins counties to use their current library cards to borrow materials from any of the Finger Lakes Library System’s 33 member libraries.
“One Card, Many Libraries” will provide a more unified, seamless library experience and offer users free access to the wealth of materials and resources provided by System libraries. While the libraries within the Finger Lakes Library System have offered reciprocal borrowing privileges since 2000, patrons often had to have a library card from each of the libraries they visited.
Sarah Glogowski, executive director of the Finger Lakes Library System, said the change represents the commitment of member libraries to provide access and ease of use for library patrons.
“Each of our member libraries works tirelessly to reduce barriers to library services,” Glogowski said. “By allowing patrons to access each of our libraries with one card, we are making our libraries more welcoming and convenient. If you have several cards from different FLLS libraries, libraries will be happy to consolidate them into one easy card.”
