Library Lovers: Please Join Us in Albany!
Please join us in Albany on Wednesday, February 26th to meet with legislators personally about why our libraries matter, before they finalize the 2014 budget. NYS Library Aid has dropped dramatically in recent years, and is currently at 1998 levels. Legislators always listen closely to their own constituents, so having a strong showing of local library staff, trustees, and patrons in attendance at these meetings is critical. Free transportation is provided! Please register online at: http://bit.ly/183GCK0.
You can also support our libraries by participating in our systemwide postcard campaign. FLLS provides blank postcards at all member libraries in January and February so that patrons can let their representatives know why they need a well-funded library system. We’ll then deliver these messages in person during our Advocacy Day meetings. In addition, we encourage everyone to visit their local library on Snapshot Day, when we collect daily usage statistics for libraries across the state (please contact your local library for information about your local date).
Thank you for your support! For more advocacy resources, including the 2014 Legislative Guide, please visit www.flls.org/advocacy.
