Public Web Browser Product Registration Update
Public Web Browser (PWB), which runs on all Windows based, dedicated PowerPAC and LibData reservation computers, has a registration number that needs to be updated every two years. This does not apply to Chrome devices.
The Registration Number below is current for August 2021 – August 2023.
1 24261237 15182316 79A70C 4 |
When updating your Public Web Browser software you can COPY and PASTE the registration number or type it manually. If you type it, make sure to take note of the spaces and capitalization. The letter “O” is not used in the code, they are all zeroes.
If you still have PowerPAC running on a Windows XP computer, please call the CNS department at extension 237.
Some PowerPAC computers with Windows 7 and 8.1 may still be using Deep Freeze security and will need to be in a Thawed state to update the PWB registration number. Newer Windows 8.1 and 10 computers do not use Deep Freeze and you can log into your Exec userid at any time to update the PWB registration number.
Windows 7, 8.1 & 10
Some Windows 7 and 8.1 PowerPAC and LibData Reservatin computers use Faronics Deep Freeze while later 8.1 and 10 installs do not. If you’re unsure if your PowerPAC/LibData Reservation computer uses Deep Freeze, log in to the Exec userid and look in the System Tray for the Faronics polar bear icon.
If your PowerPAC and/or LibData Reservation computer uses Faronics Deep Freeze, make sure to boot your computer in the Thawed state before logging in as Exec and making the changes below. Instructions for booting the computer Thawed can be found in the PDF file titled “DeepFreeze Update Instructions” which should be on the desktop of the Exec userid on all public computers, or you can use the Deep Freeze Console, usually installed on a circulation computer, to boot the PowerPAC/LibData Reservation computer Thawed.
